The website was created to help us contact and get information from former residents to have a reunion. It is being maintained so that we made stay in contact with each other, and to preserve memories of Times Beach. We would like input from all who loved the Beach.
In November 1982, Times Beach, was one of the 17 suspected sites in Missouri, which contained the chemical Dioxin. In the middle of the bureaucracy dealing with this issue the town was plagued by a devastating flood the next month. Residents were advised by the CDC in Atlanta not to return to their homes. We were the second town in the nation to be bought out, Love Canal being the first.
September 26, 2004 we had a reunion for all former residents as a way of reuniting love ones, rekindling friendships, and to put closure to things lost that we will never get back. it was estimated that approximately 1600 people attended, we feel this was a great success. Many people were reunited, comments were made in regards to having more reunions, this is being considered. We may try to have one in 2007 which will be twenty-five years since the buyout.
